What I want...

...is THIS:
Not only does the graphic rock, but the tech on this board is awesome.
Seems like it would be a super fun park board!

Or THIS:

Burton Blender... just a newer version of what I've already got. The tech on this one is so amazing. Lots of goodies to make park laps fun!

So who's gonna get it for me? ;)

Just kidding. I am getting one of these boards before winter though.
A girl's gotta dream, right? :)

Free stuff? Yes please.

So when I can't shred, I at least like to read about shredding. I found this blog post from City Kid On Shred about a year ago with links to free magazine subscriptions to Transworld Snowboarding AND Snowboarder Mag. It worked and I got lots of free snowboard magazines, and I was super stoked. Earlier today, I was bored and stumbled upon that same post, so I figured what the hell, I'll try it again and see what happens. Success! I now have 18 issues of Snowboarder Mag and a year subscription to Transworld Snowboarding headed my way.

Anyways, here's how to do it:
For Snowboarder Mag, CLICK HERE
*Type in your info, and for 'Snowbomb Card #' you must type in 'snow1970'

For Transworld (you can also choose Ski Magazine or Skiing Magazine if you prefer, but who wants to read that junk! Or I suppose you could subscribe to all 3 if you really want.) CLICK HERE
*This one requires no special code, so just put in your info and BAM! Free mag comin' your way!

ENJOY! :) Happy Shredding!

New addiction.

Not only am I still obsessed with True Blood (don't judge!), but I've found a new addiction when there's no snow on the ground...

Skateboarding mini ramps!

I mean, I totally suck at riding one, but it's still fun as hell! Beech Mountain Resort built an indoor 5ft. mini ramp and I finally rode it for the first time last night. I busted my ass a few good times, but I finally got the hang of 'pumping' and could ride back and forth for a good while before losing it. 5 foot seems kinda sketchy to me... I can only get about halfway up to the coping. I feel like if I could skate a 3 foot mini ramp somewhere then I'd be able to do all kinds of cool stuff! :)

This will definitely be a hang out spot in the winter as well. Now when we have those rainy days, I'll have something to do! :) Did I mention what a workout it is? After about 5 min on the ramp, my legs were on fire. Way more work than snowboarding! I'm sure it will get easier as I do it more. I have no desire to get really good at riding the mini ramp, my goal is to just be able to make it to the coping, and to do kickturns so I can keep my right foot forward all the time, instead of just riding back and forth looking all lame. ha.

Anyways, my dad is going to be moved to a normal room today! Yay! No more ICU! What a good step in the right direction. I'm sure he's so happy to be off the '8th floor'. Seems like that's practically been his home for the past couple months. I can't even imagine what it feels like to lay in a hospital bed for going on 3 months now. Hopefully no more setbacks and he can get back in shape and get the hell outta there! He wants to be at home more than ever now, and we want him home asap!

Miracles happen!!

Yes, I most certainly believe in miracles. My trip to Nashville to visit my dad was an extremely stressful one. Friday when I got there, he was in pretty bad shape. They said there was nothing else they could do, but were trying some experimental treatments. The docs said he is the only lung transplant patient out of 3,000 to ever have this infection, so they really didn't know how to treat it. Thank goodness for good doctors though!

Saturday, things got worse. They said to prepare for the worst... his organs started failing, they put him on life support, and his body was going into septic shock. They said it was just a matter of time. Thankfully, he made it through the night, and amazingly the next day, Sunday, he was getting better. He was more stable and the doctors were amazed. As of today, the new drug he is taking is killing his 'mold' infection pretty well.

He's got a long road ahead of him, but after this scare, I think he'll be just fine. If he made it through this, he'll make it through anything! Thank you everyone for the support and prayers. They definitely worked and were needed! Please continue to send good vibes our way, for my dad and my family.

Why do bad things happen?

Why do bad things happen to good people? That's a question for the ages, right? I believe in karma... the energy you put into the world is what you get in return. But sometimes, it just doesn't make sense. My father is a good man, and always has been. He's stood for what he believes in, and has always been good to everyone. It's just not fair.

But now I'm heading to Nashville in the morning to visit my daddy. Got a call from my stepmom saying that the mold infection in my dads new lungs has gotten too bad to treat. They've been 'vacuuming' it out the past couple weeks by going in by surgery, but I guess it's getting so bad that it's not helping anymore. They said that it's only a matter of days before it gets into his bloodstream, and after that, it's only a matter of a few more days before it's too much for his body to handle. They've contacted other hospitals, including Duke, trying to figure out a way to cure it. Apparently medicine can't fix it at this point. I can't believe that we was doing SO well that the doctors were amazed by how fast and well he was recovering, and then this came up out of the blue. It hasn't really sunk in yet... that this might be the final straw. There's always hope... there's gotta be, right? I gotta keep my head up, and believe that miracles do still happen. My lil sister will be 7 next month. She's too young to be without a father! He's a fighter though, and I know he'll fight till the end.

They are considering bringing him back home in the next week. At least he'll be in the hospital at home, and more family and friends can come visit him and give him hope. I think that's what he would want anyways... to be closer to home.

Please say a prayer for my dad and family... this is very hard on us all...

My new obsession...

...is True Blood! Why didn't I start watching that show earlier?! I've been watching from the beginning and now I love it.

Monday night we went up to the gazebo at Beech and watched some more fireworks. All I have to say is... a.ma.zing. Probably the best time yet up there. It had rained earlier in the day, and the clouds where low in the valleys, so the fireworks were going off right above the cloud line. Good for us, but bad for the people below who could see nothing but bright flashes above the clouds! ha.

And I also have a plant obsession. I bought 2 palms, one for outside and one for inside, and a cute lil tropical plant that I have no clue what it is. I love 'em! As long as I don't kill them! I don't have a very green thumb, although I do try!

Light up the sky...

Fireworks last night were amazing <3<3<3

We were right underneath them. It's such a cool feeling to be that close... almost seems like it was our own personal fireworks show! Gotta love Beech Mountain! We rode 4wheelers up the lower part of White Lightning, right above where the lifts 3&4 unloads and also where they were shooting them from. So awesome. I think tomorrow night we're going up to the Oz rock to see if we can see any other fireworks shows in the valleys that chose to do them on the actual 4th.

I'm so glad Dustin and I were able to be off of work and go to the Pig Roast and watch the fireworks. The bbq was sooooo good by the way. It will probably be another 4 years till we're both off for this event again haha.

Anyone have any advice on riding a mini ramp?

Beech Mountain Resort is building a 5ft mini ramp in the retail shop, and it's looking awesome! Almost completed. I really wanna learn how to ride a mini ramp. I really don't skateboard that well, mainly because I never really have the chance to get on a skateboard. It would probably help if I actually purchased my own deck lol. I'm determined though... I'm gonna learn how to ride it, and ride it well!

I finally ordered the R.E.D. helmet I've been wanting forever! So excited! Probably won't get here for another week though. Now I'll have no excuse not to go balls to the wall this winter in the park!

Almost done with Phase 2 of p90x... got one more week to go until I'm on the final phase! I love it though... I can definitely tell I'm getting stronger, and I can finally fit into some of my old favorite clothes! :)

Everyone have an amazing day!
